Nothing goes right as the New Year approaches: 92,000 elves in charge of making children’s presents fall ill at the same time! This is a heavy blow for Santa (Claus), better known as Father Christmas… He has no other choice: he has to go to earth immediately with his reindeer in search of a cure. Upon arrival, he must find allies to help save the magic of Christmas…

A must for confectioners in this period of truce, Christmas films, family works above all, are Proust’s authentic Madeleine for audiences, in theaters and on television.

This tradition is best known for being the prerogative of Anglo-Saxons, and especially Americans. In the United States, it is a true institution, an annual and unbreakable family ritual. And the country clearly did not wait for Love Actually, Last Christmas and other tricks from Tim Allen, the great specialist in the eternal super Christmas saga, which proceeded at a furious pace, to focus on the confectionary truce with glee.

There are many films in France that could be labeled a “Christmas movie”, such as Daniel Thompson’s choral comedy La Bûche and his family meal of sourdough; Or, for a more recent reference, Alain Chabat’s very tasty and cute Santa & Cie, which is struggling with (real!) Santa clothes.

This wonderful comedy, both tender and poignant, noble and elegant, marked Alain Chabat’s return to directing, five years after the release of Marsupillam Road. This film, which notably reunited Golshifteh Farahan and Pio Marmay around Santa Chabat, recorded over 2 million admissions.

Good luck with that Santa & CieWhich has a sweet anti-darkness scent that is good for those troubled times. Highly recommended to watch (or rewatch!) on Netflix. A blanket and a cup of hot chocolate are even better.
