It’s Netflix’s latest big hit: an action movie that reeks of Christmas and adrenaline. This perfect program for the last holidays of the year has won subscribers as the feature film is already number 1 on the platform.
This explosive thriller comes from Jaume Collet-Serra, a genre specialist who directed No Identity, Non-stop, Night Run and The Passenger. For this new film, titled Carry-On, the director ditches his favorite actor, Liam Neeson, to focus on Taron Egerton, who we know for the Kingsman franchise.
In transferableHe plays Ethan Kopec, a young security agent for the TSA, America’s National Transportation Security Agency. On Christmas Eve, at the airport where he works as a baggage handler, a mysterious traveler played by Jason Bateman blackmails him into letting a dangerous package onto the plane.

Ethan will try to thwart his plans, despite threatening to attack his girlfriend Nora (Sophia Carson) and the thousands of travelers at the airport.
Will ‘Carry-On’ Be One Of Netflix’s Biggest Hits Soon?
The casting, pitch, atmosphere and Carry-On effectiveness won over Netflix subscribers who praised the thriller. It can boast of having the best start of the year on the platform with 42 million views in the first few days of its broadcast.
It even hit the top 10 in 93 countries. But it should not stop there. Two weeks after its release on Netflix, Carry-On is still number one in several countries, with an additional 55 million views in its second week of running, bringing its total to 97 million views so far.

This phenomenal success can bring the film to the platform in the ranking of the most watched feature films of all time. If Carry-On keeps up its ratings in the coming days, it could surpass Netflix’s top 10 movies of all time.
At the end of this ranking of the most viewed English-language films on the platform is Glass Onion: A Knives Out story in 10th place with 136.3 million views, The Mother in 9th place with 136.4 million views, We Can Be Heroes in. No. 8 with 137.3 million views and The Maiden and the Dragon at No. 7 with 138 million views. Netflix figures.
If Carry-On does this well in its third week of airing, it won’t have a hard time breaking into the top 10 of the platform’s most-watched movies. We’ll have to wait for the next installments of American Giant to find out if the Taron Egerton-led action film can achieve that feat.
