An ox weighing around 400 kilos was saved this Thursday morning (26th), after being trapped in a ditch in Passo Fundo, in the north of the state. The accident occurred on Rua Nagipe Kraide, in the Morada do Sol neighbourhood, and the rescue operation began around 8.30am.
The animal’s owner reported that the cattle had escaped from his property on Wednesday afternoon (25) and was only found the following morning, trapped in a ditch approximately 1.5 meters deep. The location is between two houses near the area from which the animal escaped.
The firefighters were called and mobilized three members to carry out the rescue operations, together with the owner of the cattle. Due to the depth and location of the animal, which was having difficulty breathing, it was necessary to dig around the trench before removing it. The operation lasted about two hours.
After being removed, the cattle was evaluated and showed no obvious injuries or signs of compromised health. It was later returned to the owner’s estate.
