The relegation of the Brasileirão to Série B will bring drastic changes to Atletico. After all, more than ten players are expected to leave the club for next season, including experienced Thiago Heleno and Fernandinho, as well as striker Pablo.
Pablo and Thiago Heleno have contracts with Furacão until the end of 2025. The forward accepted a pay cut to stay at the club and rejoined the team last Thursday (26). However, he was later released following a decision by president Mario Celso Petraglia.
Thiago Heleno did not accept a pay cut. Both players were therefore released until January 9, when their futures will be defined.
Fernandinho’s contract will expire until the end of this year. The player expected contact from the club after relegation to renew his contract, which did not happen. So far the midfielder is on holiday and has not returned to the club.
Two players have already left Furacão in December. Midfielder Erick was sold to Bahia for 4.5 million euros (R$29 million). Soon after, Christian was sold to Cruzeiro for €2.7 million (R$17.5 million).
Nikão leaves Atletico
Of those loaned out in 2024, five will not remain in Curitiba. One of these is midfielder Nikão, on loan from San Paolo and now free on the transfer market. After all, he had a contract with Tricolor San Paolo until the end of 2024. Atletico also tried to keep the player, but the parties did not reach an agreement.
Also leaving are midfielder Zé Vitor, from Maringá; defender Marcos Victor, of Bahia; and Praxedes, from Bragantino and close to signing with the New England Revolution, from the United States.
The Atletico team should have more members: defender Gamarra, full-back Esquivel, midfielder Zapelli and forwards Canobbio, Mastriani, Cuello and Di Yorio, requested by the Brasileirão clubs and abroad. Caíque also received surveys and could leave the hurricane.
