The strength of Harlan Coben’s novels has always been to take the reader in unexpected directions. And the same goes for his series: it’s about identity theft, online fraud, and double lives.
Even if qualitatively speaking, this new production is not the top of the basket (the first few minutes are a very low-quality TV movie), it can rely on a compact and effective plot. There are revelations in each episode, and especially in the final minutes, that call everything into question.
What I miss is the advantage that this is a mini-series and the audience gets what they pay for: there is a closed ending and the writers answer all our questions. After all, isn’t that what we’re asking for with this kind of production?
