A couple of Brazilian tourists went invested this Wednesday, 1, a.m Buenos Aires, Argentina. The man, aged 60, died on the spot, while the woman, aged around 50, was taken to the Fernández hospital, in the Palermo neighbourhood, with serious multiple traumas.

The accident occurred around 10 am, at the intersection of Libertador and Alvear streets, in the Recoleta neighborhood. According to information from the police and the newspaper La Nación, the driver of a Honda HRV lost control of the car, invaded the sidewalk and hit the couple, who were waiting for the traffic lights to change to cross the street.

Emergency crews were called immediately. Officers from the 2A neighborhood police station confirmed the death of the man on the spot and the treatment of the woman, who was taken to the largest hospital in the Argentine capital for checks and medical treatment.
The investigation is under the responsibility of Criminal Court No. 9, which deals with cases of homicide and personal injury. Argentine authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or details on the condition of the driver involved in the accident.
