Nunes promises to pay attention to SP’s periphery in a speech during the commencement ceremony

The mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), gave a speech this Wednesday 1, promising that his second term will pay attention to the city’s suburbs, during a start-of-term ceremony at the Municipal Theater, downtown. “Taking care of the suburbs means taking care of all the neighborhoods of the city,” said the emedebista.

Nunes said he is the first suburban mayor to take office. “At the far south, we were forgotten. I want you to think every night about which Ricardo I saved today,” he told his secretaries, of whom he asked for humanity.

The new president of the City Council, Ricardo Teixeira (União Brasil), who arrived in the middle of the ceremony to greet the mayor, gave a speech similar to that of Nunes earlier, also relating to the suburbs of São Paulo. He commented that he intends to deepen measures to bring the Legislature closer to the population, with hearings and public sessions held in the suburbs. “It would be more about listening to the population than saying anything,” he said.

Shortly before the speech, Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republican) sent the emedebista a video, which was shown on the big screen. He was unable to attend because he is on holiday abroad for personal reasons.

“You will always count on state government. We will be partners. Count on our team to continue this partnership that has worked,” Freitas said.
