Former city councilor of São Paulo Janaina Lima has been at the center of a controversy following the removal of items from his former office at City Hall. During his tenure, Lima made changes to the office, investing in improvements and personal items. After his defeat in the 2024 elections, when he obtained 12,215 votes, the former parliamentarian decided to eliminate some of these rumors.




Janaina Lima confirmed to CNN that the removed items, including a toilet and two sinks, were purchased with her money, justifying that they were not part of the Chamber’s assets. “The councilor who took on the role expressed appreciation for the architectural design of the space, which during my management was transformed into a coworking model”he said.

Although he removed some components, Lima left other investments in the furniture, such as a glass partition, countertops, and an open design with an industrial aesthetic. Those changes transformed the space into a coworking model, a concept the current occupant has shown interest in maintaining.

Lima expressed satisfaction with his successor’s appreciation for the architectural design of the site. According to her, the concept introduced during her administration was aimed at fostering an entrepreneurial environment within the Chamber, something which appears to have been received positively.

How did the City Council react to this episode?

Ricardo Teixeirathe new president of the City Council, when questioned about the situation, declared that the body will launch an investigation to better understand what happened. The investigation aims to clarify any misunderstandings and ensure compliance with House rules.

Who is the advisor?

Janaina Lima (PP) served her second term as a councilor in São Paulo. She was already the fifth most voted woman.

Graduated in Law from Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco, she also studied Leadership in the United States. Furthermore, he studied Social Urbanism at Eafit University, in Medellin. Over the course of his political career he has passed more than 50 laws focusing on education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and fighting poverty.
