Bruno Lage’s team has the chance to stay close to league leaders Sporting. This Saturday’s rival is only in fifth place
Benfica and Braga will face each other this Saturday (4), at 3pm (Brasilia time), at the Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, for the 17th round of this edition of the Portuguese Championship. Alentejo referee Luís Godinho will be responsible for conducting the match.
How is Benfica arriving?
Home team, Benfica is in third place, with 38 points. Sporting, with 41, and Porto, with 40, are ahead of Encarnados in the standings.
Former Botafogo coach Bruno Lage will miss striker Gouveia. The following teams must therefore be sent onto the field: Trubin, Bah, Araújo, Otamendi, Carreras, Florentino, Aursnes, Di Maria, Kokçu, Akturkoglu and Amdouni.
“It’s about looking ahead, to the future. And the future is the match against Sporting de Braga, a very competent team, and we want to start the year in the best possible way,” Lage said.
How do you get to Braga?
Braga goes to Luz in fifth place, with 28 points. The good news for coach Carlos Carvalhal is that he has all the players available.
The Minho team will have to form with: Santana, Ferreira, Bambu, Niakaté, Roger, Zalazar, Moutinho, Ribeiro, Horta, El Ouazzani and Bruma.
“Benfica are a very good team, with a very good coach and they have never lost at home in domestic competitions,” warned Carvalhal.
