Hell has no fury like a despised Swiftie. Taylor Swift fans got up for the July 20 episode of Danger!, after the text of one of his hits has gone over the heads of the players. The singers the songs have been featured in several TV shows and movies , but it wasn’t one for the album, as the three contestants didn’t even respond with a guess. There is some pride when a viewer beats all three TV contestants on a given track, but fans appeared to be in disbelief and took to social media to voice their complaints.
The clue has arrived in Double Jeopardy! round and was the $ 400 clue for the “Headline That Completes the Rhyme” category. Danger! GOAT Ken Jennings – whose return to the co-host has already been noted after a joke about circumcision – read “And I’m like oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh you gotta stop like you can’t step on my dress?” The letters come from Taylor Swift’s Optimistic, Anti-Troll, Anti-Homophobic Anthem “You Need to Calm Down” but fast tweeted they just couldn’t do it:
Everyone who comes to #Jeopardy clearly has a crown in my book, but I can’t calm down when there’s a triple Taylor Swift track.
Ken Jennings’ delivery of the song’s lyrics certainly did the contestants a disservice. “Oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh” doesn’t do justice to what fans are used to hearing from the great T-Swift, and a Twitter User said he understood why the trio on stage might be having trouble:
To be honest, @KenJennings’ hilarious and deadpan lyrics made me miss even the most obvious ones. I don’t know anyone else, but it’s really hard for me to identify the song without the music!
Not all viewers were so understanding. Some Taylor Swift fans, like East immediately recognized “You have to calm down” and simply could not understand why none of the competitors had intervened:
Ikr. I saw it live today and I’m JUMP. I knew exactly what it was and everyone was as silent as oh my god!
And not to be too dramatic or anything, but some Swifties Tweeter it seemed they were ready to burn everything:
None of Jeopardy’s competitors had Taylor Swift’s suggestion.
Logically, very few, if any, people will know the answers to all of the game’s clues. Danger! board, and even Taylor Swift herself would not approve of any social media attacks launched against these players. We also know that answering questions from home is easier than it is for players on the Alex Trebek Stage. But it’s also thrilling to see a clue popping up on that bulletin board, you know, especially if it’s something you’re passionate about, and there’s no room for logic when it comes to fandoms.
More than a week in the current Danger! season, after which hopefully viewers can see if Ken Jennings lives on the deadpan song lyrics for another season, or if that work will surely fall into Mayim Bialik or even several hosts . In the meantime, take a look at ours TV program 2022 to see what new and recurring shows are coming soon.
