“O Auto da Compadecida 2” surpassed the threshold of 2 million viewers in just two weeks of broadcast. The film starring Matheus Nachtergaele and Selton Mello collected 14.42 million reais between Thursday and Sunday (5/1), with 634,000 tickets sold in the period, according to Comscore data.

The performance is more impressive than that of “I’m Still Here,” starring Fernanda Torres, which reached 2 million viewers in just its third week of broadcast.

At its premiere, the film had already reached 1 million viewers and established itself as the biggest domestic opening of 2024.

Competition on the big screen

“Sonic 3: The Movie” took 2nd place at the weekend box office in Brazil, with revenues of R$13.37 million and an audience of 620 thousand people. In 3rd place, “Mufasa: The Lion King” earned R$12.63 million, with 565 thousand tickets sold.

The debutant “Nosferatu” collected R$6.03 million and was seen by 261 thousand people, placing fourth. “Moana 2” closed the top 5 with R$4.43 million and 205 thousand viewers.

Performance of “I’m Still Here”

On the weekend it competed for the Golden Globe, “I’m Still Here” ranked in sixth place, with revenues of R$1.27 million and 45 thousand tickets sold. The film has already reached 3.08 million viewers since its premiere.
