Tonight on TV: When the star of En Fanfare treats us to a fun family meal

For Benjamin Lavernhe, he knows wedding ceremonies! Eight years ago, the Comédie Française actress made a strong impression in Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache’s Le Sens de la fête, alongside Jean-Pierre Bacre.

four years later Benjamin Laverne He finds himself again at the center of the Union, in the comedy Le Discours. But this time it’s not her getting married, but her sister, played on screen by the sparkling Sarah Giraudeau.

This feature film by Laurent Thirard (the recently deceased director to whom we owe Man to the End, Asterix and Obelix: On Her Majesty’s Service or Little Nicholas) is, as its title suggests, centered around a speech wedding.

Adrian (Benjamin Laverne), a heartbroken young man, is stuck at a family dinner where uninteresting conversations fly in all directions. And because bad news never comes alone, Ludo (Kian Khojandi), her brother, asks her to perform at the wedding. It’s total panic for Adrienne! However, this opportunity can change the course of his life.

A fun dinner between dream and reality

Adapted from Fabcaro’s eponymous novel, this film, as funny as it is inventive, offers delicious dialogue and an irresistible theatrical performance that breaks the codes of conventional French comedies.

This is how viewers find themselves at the center of a surprising intrigue in which the narrative moves continuously, juggling between an incredible family meal and a series of daydreams. It may seem disturbing, but the audience is seduced.

Internet users of AlloCiné rated it 3.4 out of 5 and the opinions are just as flattering: “A funny and exciting comedy about love, family and the unspeakable” (Cinivore24), speech is a completely successful comedy” (Jean L.), or even “This movie is a little gem of a comedy, Benjamin Laverne It’s an extraordinary production, the likes of which we see very little in French cinema.” (Roman P).

once again Benjamin Laverne caused a sensation. He even won the Golden Swan Award for Best Actor at the Cabourg Film Festival for his performance. Let’s remind you that since last November, the actress has been playing in Emmanuel Kurkol’s En fanfare, a successful feature film that has recently crossed the million mark.

We’re definitely not done hearing about this talented forty-year-old artist!
