The police action in the Charqueadas neighborhood aimed to combat drug trafficking and violent crimes
A man, still unidentified, died on Tuesday morning (7) in a clash with the 4th assault battalion of the Military Brigade (BM), in Caxias do Sul. The accident occurred around 10am, in Rua Boa Viagem, in an area known as “Beco dos Trilhos”, in the Charqueadas neighbourhood.
The police operation aimed to combat drug trafficking, weapons and violent crime. During the approach, an exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in the death of the suspect, who had a criminal record for drug trafficking. A firearm, drugs ready for sale, money and other material relating to the trafficking activity were seized at the scene.
This is the second murder recorded in the city in 2025. The first case was the femicide of Kelly Rodrigues da Rosa, 30, killed by her partner in the same neighborhood on the first weekend of the year.
