CinemaCynthia Erivo talks about deleted scenes from Wicked that she would like to see in the final cut

The actress and singer attended the National Board of Review awards ceremony and on the red carpet revealed interesting facts about the film

Wicked (2024) was one of the great successes of cinema in 2024, but if it depended on the performer of Elphaba, Cynthia Erivosome scenes in the final cut would be different from what we know in the director’s vision Jon M. Chu.

In conversation with the IndieWire during the red carpet appearance of the awards ceremony National Board of Review, Erivo revealed her favorite deleted scenes. Among the tickets left out was one at the train station, where Madame Morriblecharacter from Michelle Yeohand Galinda — performed by Ariana Grande — go to Elphaba while her father accompanies her to the Emerald City to visit the wizard, speaking somewhat dismissively about how he hopes the witch makes a good impression.

“They jump to his defense, and it’s like a little army of girls,” he recalled. Erivo. “This makes me very happy. I wish that was inside.”

Another scene involves Boqplayed by Ethan Slaterand takes place in the same train station. The two are talking about their feelings about other characters in the plot: Nessarose and Fyero. The actress classified the scene as “very cool” and she is not the only one to think that way. On another occasion, Ariana Grande commented that in this passage the boy says “Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought we were being honest” and for her this was the best line in the entire film.

The last scene that Erivo commented during the interview that it was set in the Forest of Oz, where Elphaba and Fyero and the witch shows the boy how to hold the lion cub correctly before releasing him.
