Astrid and Raphael on France 2: Will Raphael survive the poisoning?

On December 20, France 2 aired the final episode of season 5 of Astrid et Raphaëlle, its flagship detective series starring Lola Devaer and Sarah Mortensen. A season that ended in apotheosis for two investigators.

At the last minute, when Astrid was about to marry Tetsuo, Raphael was poisoned when he tried to put on his friend’s wedding ring. Then she fell to the ground, not knowing if she would survive.

Season 5 is still at the top

Since its launch, Astrid and Raphael has always been a huge success on France 2. And season 5 was no exception to this enthusiasm. New episodes averaged 6.2 million viewers for a 28.9% audience share.

The detective series also performed well on the france.tv platform. Astrid and Rafael’s investigations were followed by 1.7 million Internet users, or 28% of the total audience.

In a press release, France 2 specified that it is the platform’s most consumed series in 2024, with a total of 13.8 million video views. So it’s no surprise that the series has been renewed for a 6th season, which began filming this Tuesday, January 7th in and around Paris.

This new season of Astrid and Raphael will be full of challenges for our two heroes. They will have to face new mysterious mysteries than ever before. Parapsychology, African fetishism, mathematical theory, the guillotine, Homer’s trial and even the devil himself… the investigators will have a lot to do as their personal lives are upheavals.

Rafael will definitely have to face the consequences of the poisoning, which he barely escaped. According to the official synopsis, he will be traumatized and degraded by the event and will have to reinvent his daily life, as well as his relationship with Astrid and Nico (Benoit Michel).

During the interview, the scriptwriter of the detective series, Alexandre de Seguins, told us that “the relationship between Raphael and Nicolas is going through twists and turns. If this trial could tear them apart, it will bring them closer together“.

In turn, Astrid realizes that a mysterious stranger is following her. He discovers that he is related to Tetsuo’s (Kengo Saito) family. Is the latter really what it claims to be?

“Astrid’s past is resurrected in a rather spectacular way“, the screenwriter told us. “This becomes a real obstacle in his daily life, so he will be forced to deal with this issue.”

However, we’ll have to be patient to discover the rest of our two heroes’ adventures, as Astrid and Raphael Season 6 isn’t set to air until November 2025. In the meantime, you can find all five first seasons of the detective. Series now on france.tv.
