This Tuesday, January 7th, The Rookie returned to television with its 7th season. This first episode, however, was marked by the absence of Officer Aaron Thorsen, one of the characters of the detective series, played by True Valentino.
True Valentino leaves the rookie
It was in season 4 that True Valentino debuted on The Rookie as a former TikTok star who, after being acquitted of murder, joined the LAPD to start a new life under Nila Harper.
But after 3 great years on the Nathan Fillion-led detective series, the actor announced last August that he was leaving The Rookie at the end of Season 6.
“I will always cherish my time at The Rookie, but I couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds.“- he wrote on his Instagram at the time. “It’s been an incredible opportunity and I feel lucky to have been a part of it for the past three seasons.”
Therefore, the first episode of season 7 explains the absence of Aaron Thorsen. Viewers discover that he has been transported to North Hollywood, where Celia explains that she “I’m glad no one knows he was Blair’s patient“.
Will Aaron Thorsen return?
When True Valentino’s departure was announced, Alex Hawley, showrunner of the series, explained to her Screen ratiothat they had to say goodbye to the actor for creative reasons, but he wanted to say that the door remained open for a possible return.
“Ultimately, we felt that creatively the show needed a change. But it is still very much alive in our world. The actor himself suggested in a farewell message that a return was always possible. “You never know who might show up at the Mid-Wilshire Police Department again“, he wrote.
Watch the first 5 seasons of The Rookie now on Netflix.
