Almost 12 years after the series ended, Wizards of Waverly Place is now returning to France. This Friday, January 10, Disney+ brought online Waverly Place: The New Wizards, the continuation of the adventures of the Russo family, on its platform.

The iconic cast is returning

For the occasion, David Henry will reprise his role as Justin Russo and also become the main character of this sequel. After a mysterious incident that occurred at WizTech, he decided to renounce his powers as a wizard in favor of a normal human life with his wife and two sons.

But while she lives a peaceful life, she is surprised to see a young and powerful witch named Billy (played by Janice Leanne Brown) at her door who needs advice and training to learn how to use her powers. Justin then returns to work to ensure the future of the wizarding world.

David Henry isn’t the only one reprising the role that made him famous, as Selena Gomez, who recently starred in Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez, will also make her big comeback.

She will again step into the shoes of Alex Russo, Justin’s sister. Unfortunately for fans, he’s only in the first episode to make way for a new generation and specifically Billy, a character very reminiscent of the evil Alex.

David Deleuze, who played Jerry, the Russo siblings’ father, also appeared in Season 1, Episode 7. Something to make early fans happy.

Watch the first season of Waverly Place: The New Wizards now on Disney+.
