Netflix’s new series Meghan Markle, With Love, Meghanwas postponed because of the fires raging in Southern California. The premiere, originally scheduled for January 15th, was rescheduled for March 4th.
“I am grateful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the release while we focus on the needs of those affected by the wildfires in my home state of California.”Markle said in a statement released by Variety.
Markle and her husband, the Prince Harrywho currently live in Santa Barbara, visited the Pasadena Convention Center last week to help with fire recovery efforts. The couple also shared resources on their official website, including the World Central Kitchenfrom José Andréslong-time partner of Archewell Foundationan organization created by them. “If a friend, loved one, or pet needs to evacuate and you can provide a safe haven in your home, please do so.”they both wrote.
With Love, Meghan was described by Netflix as a show that “reimagines the lifestyle genre, combining practical tutorials and candid conversations with friends, new and old.” The show will feature appearances by actresses such as Mindy Kaling and Abigail SpencerMarkle’s co-star on the series Suitsas well as chefs like Roy Choi and Alice Waters and, of course, the Prince Harry.
“I’ve always loved taking something very ordinary and transforming it”says Markle in the trailer, which shows her in the kitchen. “Surprise people with moments that show I really thought about them.”
The series announcement came shortly after Markle’s surprise return to Instagram, where she has shared three posts so far. Although her relationship with social media was complicated after her marriage to Prince Harry and the couple’s departure from the British royal family, Markle had apparently been planning her return to digital platforms for a few years.
