Launched 40 years ago, Perfection (1985) almost unintentionally became one of the best-known films of Jamie Lee Curtis. At the time, curiously, it was a box office failure: it only grossed US$12.9 million compared to an investment of US$20 million. However, the work also carried out by John Travolta gained cult status over the decades.

One of the most famous scenes ever done by the American actress, at the time elevated to the status of a sex symbol, came from him. She, who in the work gives life to the gym instructor Jesse Wilsonshows sensuality in a scene with aerobic exercises.

The excerpt was once again performed by the star of Halloween (1978) and Everything Everywhere at the Same Time (2023) in recent participation in the program Tonight Showfrom Jimmy Fallon. This time, of course, with a touch of humor inherent to the “reinterpretations” promoted by the television attraction.

It all started when she was asked to remember other works in which she performed dance passes, such as Prom (1980) and True Lies (1994). Then, an excerpt from the original version is shown, earning laughs from Curtis and Fallon, until the two communicate about footage “never seen before”.

It was a recreation of the classic scene, with the 66-year-old actress wearing a costume similar to the original and the participation of the presenter himself. It starts with some degree of seriousness until both resort to a humorous approach, complete with pizza, champagne and a dove. The soundtrack, of course, is the same as in 1985: “Shock Me”song by Jermaine Jackson and Whitney Houston.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ recent donation

Jamie Lee Curtis recently announced the donation of US$ 1 million (around R$ 6 billion at current prices and in direct transactions) to funds to help with the fires that devastate Los Angeles, in the United States. The fire left at least 24 dead and a trail of destruction estimated at US$150 billion (equivalent to R$900 billion).

The actress explained that the amount will be donated through Family Foundationan organization created by her in partnership with her husband and children to “support our great city and state and the amazing people who live and love here”.

“While the fire is still raging and crews from @calfire, @losangelesfiredepartment and all available first responders and agencies continue to work hard to fight the fire and save lives, and neighbors and friends come together to help each other, my husband, I and our children we pledged $1 million of ourFamily Foundation to create a fund of support for our great city, state and the incredible people who live and love here.”wrote Curtis on his Instagram account, adding:.

“I am in contact with Governor Newsom, Mayor Bass and Senator Schiff to determine where these funds will have the greatest impact.”

At the end of the message, Curtis committed to “frequently post information about where to send needed resources to trusted agencies.”
