Netflix: Will France’s Most Watched Action Movie Get a Sequel?

It’s the French blockbuster of the beginning of the year, and you don’t need to go to the cinema to see it, because it’s a Netflix production. Thriller Ad Vitam sees Guillaume Canet bring his features to life as a former member of GIGN, who starts out on the trail of his wife kidnapped by a group of dangerous kidnappers.

For the purpose of the film, the 51-year-old actor underwent intense training with former members of GIGN. This training allowed him to perform almost all the stunts himself, which was for the latter, who especially managed to overcome his fear of heights during the shooting of aerial sequences.

Guillaume Canet, the lead actor of the feature film, is also a co-writer. This one seems to have sequel ideas as he is already announcing that he is ready to direct a sequel. This was his intention from the beginning of the project, as he confirmed in the film’s press conference:

“It’s a possibility! Anyway, it was an idea on my part to say that we could actually see them.”he said. “Now it depends entirely on how the public will receive Ad Vitam, but I really want to come back before I’m fit enough to do action scenes … before I get rheumatism.”

Ad Vitam 2: Already a good start!

Ad Vitam ends with a happy ending. After being imprisoned for his alleged treason, Frank Lazareff was eventually released after new evidence was discovered. Finally, he will be able to enjoy his new life as a father. All’s well that ends well, at least until a new batch of bad guys rolls in…

While hoping for a sequel, the film has already fulfilled its first promise, becoming the most viewed film in France upon its release on Netflix. However, we will have to wait a few days to find out if this enthusiasm will spread to other countries where the platform is available.
