CinemaO Auto da Compadecida 2 surpasses three million spectators in three weeks

Directed by Guel Arraes and Flávia Lacerda, the novelty was conceived based on an original idea approved by Ariano Suassuna’s family

Having been showing in Brazilian cinemas for less than a month, The Compadecida Auto 2sequel to the 1999 miniseries, which marks the reunion of João Grilo and Chico more than twenty years after the events of the first story, it surpassed the three million viewer mark.

What is the story of The Compadecida Auto 2?

In the new, after rising from the dead, João Grilo (Matheus Nachtergaele, City of God) is elevated to the level of saint and starts to be disputed by Arlindo (Eduardo Sterblitch, Great Sertão), who wants divine support to win a political position in Taperoá. However, all the attention also attracts the wrong people, which leads the deceased ex to carry Chico (Selton Mello) on a new adventure.
