Shazam Fury of the Gods has released its first images at San Diego Comic Con. The DC film sequel starring Zachary Levy will hit theaters on December 21, 2022.
Released on April 3, 2019, Shazam First introduced the world to a new superhero on the big screen, played by Zachary Levi.
The feature film, which grossed $366 million worldwide and drew 1 million viewers in France, received a sequel, titled Wrath of the Gods.
While at Comic Con this weekend in San Diego, Zachary Levy released the first images of this part 2.
We find Billy Batson there, several years after the events depicted in Shazam. The superhero continues to fight crime with his family while undergoing therapy, not considering himself as charismatic as Batman, Aquaman or the Flash.
However, Shazam will have to remobilize very quickly in the face of a new threat: Hespera! It is Helen Mirren who lends her qualities to the big villain of this second installment, who is none other than the daughter of the god Atlas.
Director David F. Sandberg decided to create this completely new antagonist from scratch. Indeed, Hespera does not exist in the comics, unlike Atlas. In Greek mythology, Atlas is a Titan who is blamed by Zeus for holding the celestial vault for eternity.
So the gods of Olympus join the battle that awaits Bliss and her friends in Fury of the Gods, which hits theaters on December 21st.
Note that Asher Angel and Zachary Levy, who play Billy Batson and his alter ego Shazam, respectively, return for this second episode.
His superhero family is also back, the youngsters and their superhero equivalents, which will allow us to see Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler or even Megan Goode.
As for Helen Mirren, Rachel Zegler and Lucy Liu, they will be the small news of this second opus, which promises to be as crazy as the first.
