‘It would be hard to put a 64-year-old actress in Marvel movies,’ says Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis would love to work with Marvel, but ageism in Hollywood prevents her from participating in the projects.

Jamie Lee Curtis revealed that he wanted to join the cast of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but the actress believes she will not receive a call from Kevin Feigepresident of marvel studiosso early.

In May of this year, Curtis compared the movie Everything Everywhere at the Same Time (2022), where the actress plays Deidre Beaubeidre, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) after the release of both, joking that the feature trumps ‘any production from Marvel that they throw around’.

In an interview with the people, Curtis says she is “perhaps the most competitive person on the planet” and notes that “it was so interesting that, of course, we were facing a big Marvel movie”. “Maybe I felt like sparking a little friendly competition,” she revealed.

“I have nothing against Marvel as an entity. I’ve seen a lot of Marvel movies. What I was saying is that Everything Everywhere at the Same Time it was a small movie that could… and [nós] we were able to tell a multiverse story that really touched people,” she continues. “What I was trying to say was that it doesn’t have to be a Marvel movie to be a spectacle and really move you.”

Regarding the entry of Jamie Lee Curtis at the MCUthe actress believes that she will not receive a proposal from the company of superhero films for the precociousness with old actors in Hollywood, a topic already addressed by the actress in previous interviews.

“Honestly, I can’t imagine them calling because I’ve kicked up some dust,” he admits. “But I’m an artist. I work with a lot of people on a lot of different things, and if the role was interesting and if I could bring what I do to it, of course I would work with Marvel.”

What am I going to do, say no? But, I find it hard to imagine that Marvel will discover anything to do with a 64-year-old woman.

Curtis also says that Marvel’s movie-making format may not be the best for its own process, comparing the high-tech used in the productions to the low-cost cinematic effects used in Everything Everywhere at the Same Time.

Everything Everywhere at the Same Time it was the absolutely most unexpected and delicious experience of my career, just because the expectations were so low and I was so free at work and I had so much fun doing it. And there was no green screen!”
