Jeff Bezos’ successful launch is a milestone in the space race against Elon Musk’s Space
THE Blue Originthe billionaire’s company Jeff Bezoslaunched the rocket in the early hours of this Tuesday the 16th NewGlennconsidered the most powerful in the company. Initially scheduled for Friday 10th, the flight was postponed to Sunday 12th and then to Monday 13th, until confirmation this morning.
The mission, which should last about six hours and end at 9:00 am Brasilia time, launched from Launch Complex 36 at the Cape Canaveral Space Station in Florida.
It includes tests such as analyzing the rocket’s telemetry in space and evaluating the performance of tracking, command and communications systems.
As an unforeseen event during the launch, Blue Origin reported that it lost propellant from the rocket’s first stage. The equipment lost signal with the control and stopped sending data after starting the process of autonomous return to the landing platform. Despite this, the company believes it was successful with liftoff once it reached orbit.

Through a publication on X, formerly Twitter, he congratulated himself on the result obtained Elon Muskowner of SpaceXcompany that has been a leader in the commercial space exploration sector for years. “Congratulations on reaching orbit on the first try!” he said, referring to Bezos.
The successful launch intensifies the space race among companies competing for billion-dollar contracts with NASA.
The mission NG-1 take the Blue Ring Explorera payload responsible for testing technologies for the Blue Ring orbital transfer vehicle. The payload is a type of “space tug”, which has a suite of communications, power systems and flight computers installed. These instruments allow you to place satellites in different orbits.
To accommodate the payload and launcher, New Glenn is 98 meters tall – which is equivalent to a 30-story building – and has a diameter of seven meters, which allows for double the volume of standard commercial launch systems.
According to the company, New Glenn’s first stage is designed for a minimum of 25 flights. Blue Origin says the vessel operates on cleaner-than-standard fuel, which will result in reduced pollutants and costs. Furthermore, the spacecraft was designed to be reusable right from this first phase. New Glenn will launch payloads into high-energy orbits and can carry more than 13 tons into geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) and 45 tons into low-Earth orbit (LEO).
The rocket was named in honor of John Glennthe first American to orbit the Earth. Blue Origin will attempt to recover the rocket’s first stage during the maiden flight. Just like SpaceX, a maritime platform – from the name Jacklyna tribute to Bezos’ mother – it will be in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean if the rocket makes it through atmospheric entry and lines up for landing.
