In 1992, Mike Myers and Dana Carvey made an American comedy debut with Wayne’s World, a feature film that became a cult hit! The two SNL misfits gave us a hilarious performance, spawned parodies and memorable sequences!
An absolutely Dantesque cameo
Thus, the film offers pop culture references, poking fun at big hits from the early 90s like Jurassic Park. However, one such reference stood out above all others: Terminator 2!
At 1 hour, 18 minutes and 35 seconds into the film, the T-1000 makes a prominent appearance in a small scene, giving fans of 1991’s huge $517 million worldwide hit The Last Judgment a treat.
Robert Patrick, the mimetic polyalloy cyborg interpreter, has agreed to make this epic cameo, in which he replicates his villain to perfection. Dressed in emblematic police attire, he stops Wayne in his car for what we initially believe to be a trivial check. At first, the audience does not know who is hiding behind this representative of the police.
T-1000 in all its power!
He then orders the hero to roll down the window, then grabs his helmet and sunglasses and leans forward. We then discover a T-1000 circling a photo of a young man (who strangely isn’t John Connor)! “Hey, do you know this guy?”Cyborg is then questioned as in the Terminator 2 scenes where he tracks down John in the arcade.
Terrified, Wayne lets out a scream of terror and rushes to escape one of the greatest villains in movie history! He then begins to follow her with the characteristic approach of a determined cyborg.
He’s only on screen for about ten seconds, but that’s enough to make him a standout cameo! Above all, it is very well conveyed by director Penelope Sphereis, who ensured that this fleeting appearance was iconic thanks to the perfect staging. Note that Robert Patrick also makes a very small cameo as the T-1000 in the final action hero with Schwarzenegger.
If you want to re-watch this memorable moment, don’t hesitate, Wayne’s World is available on Paramount+! Its sequel, equally excellent and hilarious, is also available on the streaming platform.
