Marvel has released the poster for “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, which highlights three heroes in uniform and the plot villain. In red and yellow dresses are the heroes of the title, played by Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. The third character, in purple dress, is Cassie Lang, the daughter of Ant-Man, who will be played for the first time by Kathryn Newton (star of “Freaky”).
After the time jump of “Avengers: Endgame”, Scott Lang discovers that his little daughter Cassie, played by Abby Ryder Fortson in the first two films, grew up without him and became a teenager. She now she has her purple Ant-Man costume.
In the comics, Cassie inherits her father’s powers and joins the Young Avengers as heroine Stature. During the film’s panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Kathryn Newton said that “Cassie is becoming what she should be.”
The cast of the sequel also features Michael Douglas (Dr. Hank Pym) and Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet Van Dyne), as well as villain Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors (“Lovecraft Country”). The introduction of this character was made by one of the variants of him in the final chapter of “Loki”, which positioned him to take the place of Thanos as the new big bad of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
Also directed by Peyton Reed, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” will officially open Marvel’s Phase 5 on February 16, 2023 in Brazil, one day before its US release.
