The Pontiff asked that money be at the service of the common good
Pope Francis denounced this Saturday (18th), in an audience in the Vatican with the Catholic Foundation of Verona, that the most profitable investments are “weapons factories”.
In a short speech, the pontiff said that money “returns more when it is invested for the benefit of others”, but highlighted a “very bad situation” in the world.
“In some countries, the most profitable investments are weapons factories. Investing to kill. They are crazy!”, declared the leader of the Catholic Church.
“When this is done, against the good of the people, money ages and hardens the heart, making it hard and deaf to the voice of the poor,” he added.
According to the Pope, “when we put wealth at the service of human dignity, we will always obtain a profit”. “By promoting the common good, we improve the bonds of the society in which we all participate,” he underlined. .
