‘The Witcher’, season 3, starts filming and advances plot

The series has started production today on a more ambitious third season: Gerald, Yennefer and Ciri have a long journey ahead of them.

Today is the day. Today the filming of the third season of ‘The Witcher’ has begun, the series that delighted fans (and not so much) of the sagas of sorcerers and monsters. The news comes two months after the start of the scriptwriting process, and is accompanied by a photo that promises a return to winter in pseudo-medieval lands.

Also we have a little preview of the plot, freely corresponding to the third book in the Geralt of Rivia saga: Geralt will take Ciri to Yennefer to train her in her first-time magical powers in the sheltered fortress of Aretuza. But her refuge will be gripped by political corruption, dark magic and betrayal.

At Netflix they are delighted with the response of the community after the premiere of the first season of ‘The Witcher‘ and, it seems, the second has excited those responsible for its programming who, in addition to giving the green light to new titles set in its universe, decided to start production of the third season of its main series three months before the premiere of the second. His main manager did not take long to get down to work.

In January, Lauren Schmidt stated: “The creative process has just begun.” Schmidt is the creator of the series that adapts the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski (and CD Projekt video games), in an interview with Tech Radar. “We have the scripts, and now we’re going to bring in the directors and the actors, and we’re going to start digging and thinking to make sure it’s the perfect season.”

“Definitely, we are not going to be smaller in the third season,” he comments on his Instagram Steve Gaubexecutive producer of the series, who is immersed in the gigantic pre-production.

The Witcher‘ has come to stay and, based on temporary twists and turns, catchy songs and an extensive gallery of characters, conquered a large part of the fandom in its first season, turning the second into the settlement of Geralt of Riviaits protagonist, as one of the most important sword and sorcery heroes of the 21st century so far.

“I wanted to show more of the abilities of Geralt and the other witches as much as possible, because it is a great opportunity to show the background of these characters,” Henry Cavill himself confessed to us. “It’s something I worked hard on but unfortunately I can’t talk much more about it, you’ll have to wait for the premiere to see what happens.”

“We roughly do one book per season, but we also make sure that the stories in that book are the best in that season for our television series,” Schmidt warns. Collider. “So sometimes we move those chess pieces a little bit, there’s a big ‘Blood of the Elves’ story that we’re going to do in season three, for example. And there’s a short story that didn’t fit in season one, so we put her in the second. We try to be quite flexible with that.”

At the moment we can already enjoy the first two seasons of ‘The Witcher‘ and from the animated film ‘The Witcher: Nightmare Wolf‘ (Kwang Il Han, 2021). In 2022 the prequel series will arrive ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin‘ (Lauren Schmidt) and, in addition to the future third season, Netflix has also confirmed a second animated film and a third series set in the Sapkowski universe but suitable for the whole family.
