The Minister of Civil Housing divided politicians between those who like to “seal on the Internet” and those who like to “work”, placing the governor of Minas, Romeu Zema, in the first group
BRASILIA – The Minister of Civil House, Rui Costacriticized the opposition to the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for publishing “seals” on social media this Wednesday 22. According to the minister, Planalto’s opponents promote “debauchery, lies, slander and harassment” and prefer digital promotion rather than formulating concrete proposals.
“You can’t build cities this way, you can’t improve city transportation with sealing, you can’t improve hospital care with sealing or likes. Likes are nice when you play, they’re entertainment. In real life, things must be treated seriously, not with debauchery, lies, slander and harassment,” the Minister of Civil Housing said in an interview with Good morning, Ministergovernment program of the Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC).
Rui Costa did not name names, but stated that he did not know how some parliamentarians arrived at the National Congress. He recalled his political life, when in the past he was an opponent of right-wing parties and, according to him, opponents presented proposals and did not focus on “social media sealing”.
“You may not agree, but the person was serious about what he said, [tinha] concrete proposals. Today it is deplorable. You look and you don’t believe that person was elected senator, deputy. Someone who doesn’t have a good suggestion to improve people’s lives, just wants to post it on social media,” Rui Costa said.
After leaving his EBC studies, Rui Costa attended a ceremony at the Palácio do Planalto to celebrate the concession of a highway in Minas Gerais. In an indirect message to the state governor, Romeu Zema (Novo), the head of the Civil Chamber declared that he is part of the group of politicians who “like to seal the Internet”.
“Brazil, we can divide ourselves into two groups: those who like to seal on the Internet and those who like to work for the Brazilian people and for Brazil. Those who like to seal on the Internet, left the streets of Minas Gerais with only 42% [estradas] considered good”, said the Minister of Civil Housing.
In the same event Lula also stung Zema. Since last week, when the president vetoed the State Debt Payment Program (Propag), Zema began criticizing him and the Finance Minister, Fernando Haddad.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) in response to Haddad, Zema said the debt renegotiation program would directly harm miners. He also rebutted the minister regarding the accusation that Propag was not transparent in negotiations. This Wednesday Lula said that the miner owed him a bonus for the deal and said that the word “thank you” is simple, but to say it you have to have greatness.”
“For this agreement on the debts of Minas Gerais, of all the states, the governor of Minas Gerais should come here and bring me a prize. A trophy from the first president of the Republic who, as he knows, never vetoed absolutely anything by any governor, by any mayor against or against,” Lula said at the event. The governor was invited to attend the ceremony, but did not attend.
Proposals such as the Pix inspection must first pass through the Civil Chamber
After the controversy over the Ministry of Finance’s proposal to monitor financial transactions, too Peeveswhich forced the Lula government to backtrack and revoke the measure due to negative repercussions on social media, the president decided that all similar measures must first pass through Rui Costa.
“From now on it is dedication. More than you have ever had. From now on no minister will be able to issue an ordinance that creates confusion for us without this ordinance passing from the Presidency of the Republic through the Civil House. We often he thinks it’s nothing, but someone makes an ordinance, does some business, and soon it explodes and becomes the Presidency of the Republic”, said the PT deputy during the ministerial meeting held on Monday the 20th.
