Since 2020, when the artist became one of the majority members, the club has moved up two divisions and can compete in the second division in 2025/26
Ryan Reynolds, actor who plays the Marvel film Deadpool, will give priority to football, according to Life & Style Magazine. This is because the artist is one of the majority shareholders of Wrexham AFC, a club that currently plays in the English third division.
This way, Reynolds will leave work as Deadpool quietly and focus on planning the team over the next few years.
“Ryan’s work on the Deadpool films generated billions of dollars in ticket sales and made him an A-list Hollywood star, but the Wrexham project is much closer to his heart.”
Ryan Reynolds made the highest-grossing film in Hollywood last year, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ (2024). In fact, the production amassed more than $1.3 billion, or approximately R$7.8 billion in ticket sales worldwide.
Wrexham, the club of actor Ryan Reynolds
Wrexham AFC was founded in 1864. As such, it is the oldest club in Wales and the third oldest professional football club in the world. Since Ryan Reynolds and his friend Rob McElhenney bought the club in 2020, the team has already moved up two divisions. They are currently in third place in League One, the third division of English football. In fact, they have the chance to win a place in the second division for the 2025/2026 season.
