Netflix: Is it a good start-of-the-year event series? The viewers decided!

Available on Netflix since January 9, the western series At the Dawn of America has been a huge success with the platform’s subscribers. Developed by the writer of The Revenant, this program stars Taylor Keech, Betty Gilpin and Jai Courtney.

The plot of the series returns to authentic historical facts and notably sees the appearance of famous diner Jim Bridger (Shea Whigham) or Utah Mormon Governor Brigham Young (Kim Coates).

The success of the series forced Netflix to change its plans. Originally, one season of eight episodes was planned. But a second season is already in the works, and director Peter Berg has suggested that this new season could take the form of a prequel rather than a sequel.

The world’s most watched series on Netflix for the second week already, America’s Dawn seems to have completely convinced the platform’s subscribers. Discover the reviews posted by our Internet users on the AlloCiné profile of the program, which shows an average viewer rating of 4.4 out of 5 to date.

According to Le_Mutant_du_16éme (5/5):

“Cold, violent, sticky, gritty, uncompromising, ‘America’s Dawn’ grabs you from the first episode and pulls you through 6 episodes, scenes of incredible power, flawless actors, sublime sets, haunting music. Flawless art direction and cinematography. A beautiful slap in the face, far, far away from the father A new beautiful and complete surprise from the Wild West From Netflix!

According to elriad (5/5):

“Immerse yourself in the conquest of the West in the second part of the 19th century with this exciting series of 6 episodes. In the state of Utah, which is still inhabited by 63% Mormons, the territory is in the hands of a ceaseless war. Between the American army, Mormons, Indians and migrants.

The only law that really exists is the strongest, and violence is total in this region’s magnificent but inhospitable landscape with icy winters. The photography, with its deliberately altered colorimetry, and the actors, all flawless, make it a perfect sequence.”

According to Frédéric C. (4.5/5):

“American Primeval is an intense and brutal series that explores America’s chaotic beginnings. With complex characters and tension-filled storylines, it explores the struggle for survival in a wild and unforgiving world. The stunning setting immerses you in the heart of an era where everything hangs in the balance. It’s a poignant and visceral story that shows Influencing the birth of a nation in all its violence and humanity.”

According to Argos Panoptès (4/5):

“Wild, sticky, often messy. After Paramount’s excellent 1883, Netflix brilliantly takes on the challenge of a series about American history. The casting is great, the direction is great, the episodes are intense. I wasn’t bored. There’s a moment, but that’s not the point of the series “The Revenant” is only going to have one season, I think, and that’s a good thing.”

According to the Mohs root (4/5):

“I had a wonderful time, this series reminds us of the tragic history of America, of course it is violent, but it is the reality of this time. The plot of the series is based on the historical fact, the Meadow massacre. During the terrible war of Utah, we realize how terrible people are, artistically the series is an absolute success, thanks to Netflix for this segment.”

According to Morris Colon (3.5/5):

“A careful series, as it should be enjoyed, with a breathtaking natural setting, and whose staging is largely due to the excellent The Revenant (a systemically terrifying picture of a French colonist). United States, in the midst of the unjust annexation of the Indian territories.

The acting is more convincing, especially the second and third roles. However, without equaling the remarkable “Godless,” “American First” arrives at the right time to provide the beginnings of an explanation of the state of modern American society and its resurgent ghosts.

According to Ice&Fire (2.5/5):

“Good actors, beautiful setting and violent and dirty atmosphere, but the script is déjà vu and the characters are empty or even irritating in their behavior for some. I preferred the English comparison with the western mini-series of recent times.”

According to Lebrestois29 (1.5/5):

“The dark aesthetic and early episodes are quite compelling, I can understand the appeal of this type of production, which also avoids many of the pitfalls found in some modern series.

But, because there are buts, after the first two episodes we realize that the script won’t hold. The actions of the characters are not believable, even stupid. The ubiquitous violence becomes almost boring. All in all, a pretty bad series with nice photography. damage”.

According to GIJoe (1/5):

“It’s poorly executed, the script and dialogue are uninteresting. And then this wave of violence directed at voyeurs looking for a thrill made me sick.”
