Alocine: Nothing went well between Lucille and Akim after the young woman accepted a position as a correspondent in Barcelona. What can we expect from this couple in the next episodes of Un si grand soleil?
Aysam Medem: Akim and Lucille (Alicia Dadoon) are about to break up. He offers Akim to follow him to Barcelona, but he realizes that they don’t have the same desires for the future. Inevitably, he is so disappointed that he wants to leave and take advantage of this professional opportunity at any cost. Suddenly there is a lot of tension as they realize they are no longer in the relationship phase at all. This dramatically diminishes Akim’s feelings for Lucille, creating misunderstanding, frustration, and an inevitable breakup.
It’s truly the end of the series’ iconic couple…
It’s a little surprising that they broke up so suddenly, since Lucille and Akim were written as a power couple. But it goes to show that you never know what tomorrow holds.
Akim won’t be alone for long as he will quickly find love…
During a demonstration against a polluting factory, Akim is called to intervene against illegal protesters. He arrests Noemia (Lucilla Krier) on the spot, who is quite provocative towards the police. From there, a rather strained relationship will begin between them, as Akim was a bit rude to him and Noemi really doesn’t like the authorities. But little by little charm and attraction will take over.
During Gael Lestrac’s escape, Eliza (Malia Roman) is shot in front of Akim. An event that brought Akim back to a defining moment in his life: when he was shot in the head during a shooting several years ago. Could her post-traumatic stress disorder be addressed in future examinations?
I think yes. From the moment he was shot and became a police officer, he was bound to face scenarios like the ones he experienced. Either way, I think it stays with you for life.
Aside from his heart stories, what can we expect from Akeem in the coming weeks?
There is a big investigation going on at Noemi’s farm that combines both her personal and professional life.
A word on the Akim-Thierry pairing (Nicholas Gerow)?
I think they represent two different points of view in our country and a completely opposite view of people. This duo serves a little to tell what can happen in a police station or company. The fact that he’s working with Akeem might make him realize that labeling people isn’t the best solution. Instead, you have to meet them.
Can they ever be together?
It will all depend on Thierry. From the moment when we are no longer in rejection of the other, but in acceptance, the other also accepts you. If Thierry decides to reconsider his clichéd positions, everyone will take a step towards him.
The picture is not entirely black either, and Thierry is nevertheless a rather nuanced character. On the one hand, he thinks about terrible things, and on the other hand, he has great faith and great values. It is also interesting to show such characters.
How do you see Akim’s development?
It’s quite dizzying. I didn’t expect that at all. I have the impression that Akim came of age with me. Between the ages of 22 and 25, we leave adolescence and enter adulthood at the age of 26. This transition was also accomplished through character evolution. At first, we saw a child discovering an adult life that was a little lost and may have flaws. Besides, there are always a lot of them. From now on, he is a young man who has found himself professionally and is quite stable emotionally.
Is there a theme you want your character to address?
I want to play a double agent where we ask ourselves if Akim is good or bad. I would love to play a double game! I also want to turn around because of the attack. It would be dark. That would be great.
Do you have any other projects besides Un si grand soleil that you can tell us about?
I just finished filming the Addict series for TF1. It’s a bit inspired by the You series. I am also going to shoot a short film in which I play the main role. Otherwise, I am writing my own film.
