One of the biggest regrets of those passionate about traveling is not being able to discover new places. Whether for financial reasons or the frenetic routine of work, studies and other commitments, people who feel wanderlust they end up not satisfying their deep desire to explore the unknown.
Fortunately, there are several productions to escape reality and explore the world without leaving home. Although they don’t offer the real experience of tours, travel documentaries transport the audience to another world.
Whether planning the next big adventure, or just seeing different places, the movies and series are full of content about fascinating cultures and cities. With that in mind, the Rolling Stone Brazil listed eight productions from Netflix to travel without leaving home. Check out:

Like this one with Zac Efron (2020)
The program follows the actor Zac Efron (High School Musical) and the wellness specialist Darin Olien on a journey around the world. The series focuses on the search for healthy and sustainable ways of living, promoting greater ecological awareness.
The first season has eight episodes in which Zac and Darin visit destinations: Iceland, France, Costa Rica, Sardinia, Lima, Puerto Rico, London and Iquitos.
Among the topics discussed are: sustainable energy sources, biopiracy and tourism of ayahuasca. The second season of the series has been confirmed and the show is slated to premiere in 2022 on Netflix.

Expedition Happiness (2017)
The travel documentary accompanies Selima Taibi and Felix Starck, a young German couple with the desire to leave Berlin and see the world. To do this, they buy a school bus in North Carolina, USA, turn it into a loft mobile and with the dog Rudi, depart for North America. Some of the destinations known by the trio are: Canada, Alaska and the West Coast of the United States.
The couple met when Felix, for a year, traveled by bicycle through 22 countries. The experience gave rise to the documentary Pedal The World (2014). The girl joined him for a few weeks in New Zealand. While Starck filming the documentary, saddleas a singer and songwriter, released the first album and wrote the soundtrack for the production.
Despite some setbacks in Expedition Happiness– travel classics – such as late visas, intolerance of Rudi to the heat of the mountains, unforeseen events with the bus and terrible roads, saddle and Felix enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the trip.

Street Food: Latin America (2020)
From the creators of the docuseries Chef’s Table (2015), Street Food: Latin America (2020) has six half-hour episodes and focuses on countries in South America. The approach emphasizes the gastronomic culture of the streets of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Salvador, in Brazil; Oaxaca, Mexico; Lima, in Peru; Bogotá, Colombia and La Paz, Bolivia.
The episodes follow a central personality and her journey of love and perseverance through cooking. In parallel, two other stories about professionals responsible for typical dishes of the chosen city are developed.
The narrative is composed of testimonies from participants, comments from gastronomy experts about the representativeness of the dish for the region and stunning images of the food and the place.

Paul Hollywood – A Great Journey through Europe (2017)
Paul Hollywoodpresenter and chef British, travels across Europe in search of the most popular cars from three major regions. The narrative focuses on the journey of Paul in understanding how automobiles connect with the identity and culture of each nation.
The series consists of three episodes, filmed in Italy, Germany and France. Unlike the programs Paulthe narrative does not focus on cooking, but on the other passion of the chef – or as it is presented in the opening of the show – of the racing driver in his spare time.
The picturesque narrative offers, in addition to tours typical of the capitals, approaches the automotive histories of small towns in the regions. Full of panoramic views, Paul interviews characters linked to the automotive identity of the place, deepening the theme for laymen on the subject.

Coffee, Lunch and Dinner (2019)
Coffee, Lunch and Dinner (2019) is a series of four episodes, in which the chef North American Dave Chang travels the roads of the world with celebrities in search of fun. Exploring cities, cultures and cuisine, guests reveal versions hidden from the public.
Dave visits Vancouver, Canada, accompanied by Seth Rogen (Neighbors); Marrakech, Morocco, with the model Chrissy Teigen; Los Angeles, USA, with Lena Waithe (The Chi) and Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with Kate Mckinnon (the scandal).
In addition to interviews conducted by the chef while they eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, the program has fun moments of Dave and guests exploring the destinations’ politics, culture and society.

Tales by Light (2015)
Tales by Light(2015) is a three-season documentary series focused on accompanying photographers and cameramen on journeys to capture people, places, creatures and cultures from unusual angles.
The show is a partnership of National Geographic with the photographic equipment company Canon. Some of the themes portrayed are: the lives of needy children, the struggle to preserve ocean biodiversity, aboriginal cultures and the horrors of war.

Somebody Feed Phil (2018)
creator of Raymond and Company (1996), Phil Rosenthal travel to different places, while tasting amazing food and meeting lovely people.
The series has four seasons and, talking to the natives, addresses the culinary customs, history and culture of the places visited. The narrative is wrapped in the charisma of Phil and in the program’s intimate language.
Some of the places explored in the fourth season are: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; San Francisco, USA; Singapore, Asia and Hawaii, USA. O show presents conventional and unknown places to try delicious foods, in addition to interviewing friends of the presenter and professionals in the gastronomic sector.
Appetizing dishes are not the only approach. The program highlights stunning landscapes and valuable tips for Phil – about travel and life. The series has been renewed for a fifth season and will feature ten episodes, Netflix until the moment.
