Baumbach called it an “incredible honor” to open this year’s Venice Film Festival. “This is a place that loves cinema, and it’s a thrill and a privilege to join the incredible films and filmmakers that have debuted here.”
The Netflix drama had wide circulation in Venice this year. The streaming giant will look to use the Lido festival platform to promote the film around the world and position Baumbach as a contender for the 2023 awards.
Venice will announce its full competition schedule on Tuesday, July 26th. Several other Netflix movies are vying for Lido this year, including Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Mexican epic.
