THE CBF announced this Sunday, 2, date of the draw of the clashes of the first phase of the Copa do brasil. The ceremony will be held next Friday 7 January in Rio de Janeiro, starting at 15 hours. At this initial phase, the games of 80 clubs will be known, for a total of 40 clashes. The current champion of the competition, Flamengo, only enters the third phase.
Next to the Carioca Red-Black, 11 others are already guaranteed in the most advanced rounds: Botafogo, Palmeiras, Force, International, San PaoloCorinthians, Bay and Cruzeiro, who won this through the Brazilian championship 2024 and, Saints, Paysandu and Crb, champions of Serie B., Cup and second classified North Cup -Easternrespectively.
In the initial phase, which will be known through the first draw, the duels will be played in a single game, with the command that is the team in a lower position in the CBF ranking, as usual in other editions. The transition to 2025 is that this time visitors no longer have the advantage of a tie in regulatory time.
This means that, in case of equality, the classification will be defined on sanctions, without the need for extension. And from the third phase, two games will define the winning club, following the round of 16, quarter -finals, semi -finals and, finally, the great decision.
