Movie will be a comedy and hits theaters at Christmas 2025
The remake of Anconnda was officially confirmed by Sony Pictures and will have the Brazilian actor Selton Mello in the cast, next to Paul Rudd and Jack Black. The information was released on Wednesday (5) with a video behind the scenes, where the three appear relaxed playing guitar together.

What is the plot of the new movie?
Different from the original movie 1997which brought a team of documentary artists being attacked by a giant snake in the Amazon, the remake will have an approach comic and metalinguistics. The story follows a group of friends who, facing the middle-aged crisis, decides to recreate the film that marked his youth.
However, when they reach the forest, they end up facing Natural disasters, violent criminals and of course giant snakes. The feature will play with classic elements of the horror and adventure genre, satirizing the Hollywood clichés.
Who’s in the cast?
In addition to Selton Mello, Paul Rudd and Jack Blackthe cast of the remake of Anconnda will have names like Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, Daniela Melchior and Ione Skye.
Selton Mello will play a Brazilian animal tamer. Jack Black will play a failed film director who makes a living as a wedding cameraman, and Paul Rudd will be a television actor who was successful in a police show but has been away from his Hollywood dreams. Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn are childhood friends, and Ione Skye plays the wife of Jack Black’s character.
Who drives the remake?
The direction and the script are due to Tom Gormicanwho worked in The weight of talent (2022), starring Nicolas Cagenext to the screenwriter KEVIN ETTEN. The film will have a tone similar to that of the duo’s previous project, with humor and action.
When the new Anconnda?
The production of the remake of Anconnda has been underway in Australia since December 2024 and has been scheduled for the December 25, 2025reaching theaters at Christmas as an option for counterprogramming to the traditional premieres of the time.
