Former head of STX Film, Adam Fogelson, joined Lionsgate as vice president of the Hollywood studio’s Motion Picture Group.
He will report to Joe Drake, president of the studio’s Motion Picture Group, as he oversees worldwide marketing and theatrical distribution and has a role in planning and executing the motion picture unit’s content strategy. Fogelson will join the studio on September 1, after stepping down as president of STX Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group.
For eight years, his credits included HustlersGroenlândiafranchise Bad MomsThe UpsideThe GiftMolly’s Game s Gentlemen. Prior to joining STX, Fogelson was president of Universal Pictures.
“Adam is one of the most experienced executives in our industry. As we start a new installment The Hunger Games Dirty Dances John Wick franchises, as well as new IPs, franchises and properties, we look forward to your skills, experience and respected leadership. His long-standing relationships with some of the most creative contributors in the industry will be invaluable as we focus on our next listing,” Lionsgate’s Drake said in a statement.
Fogelson said his appointment stemmed from discussions with Drake about how STX and Lionsgate could work more together. Additionally, Lionsgate at one point explored the possibility of acquiring some or all of STX Entertainment, a deal that never materialized.
The film and television studio founded by Robert Simmonds has finally found a buyer in a consortium of investors led by Najafi Companies, with investment firms AS Birch Grove LP and 777 Partners teaming up to finance the deal.

Everything about Lionsgate, both content-wise and culturally, makes this a perfect fit for me,” he said in a statement.
