Trump says he spoke with Putin of the end of the war in Ukraine

The Cremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Tass state press agency that “many different communications are emerging”

The President of the United States Donald Trump said he spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the end of the war in Ukraine, said the New York Post newspaper, which is the first direct conversation known between Putin and a President of the States United since the beginning of 2022.

Trump, who promised to end the war in Ukraine, but has not yet defined as he will do it, said last week that the war was a bloodbath and that his team had “some excellent conversations”.

In an interview aboard the Air Force One on Friday, Trump told the New York Post that it is “better not to say” when he was asked how many times he and Putin had spoken.

“He (Putin) wants people to stop dying,” Trump said at the New York Post. The White House did not respond to a commentary request.

The Cremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Tass state press agency that “many different communications are emerging”.

“These communications are made through different channels,” said Peskov when requested by Tass to comment directly on the New York Post report. “Personally, I may not know something, not to be aware of something. Therefore, in this case, I cannot confirm or deny.”

The conflict in Eastern Ukraine began in 2014, after a Phili-Russian Ukrainian president was overturned in the Maidan and Russia revolution linked to Crimea, with separatist forces supported by Moscow who fought against the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Putin sent thousands of troops in Ukraine in 2022, defining the action “special military operation” to protect Russian speakers in Ukraine and fight what he said is a serious threat to Russia due to the possible adhesion of Ukraine to the Organization of the Treaty of the North Atlantic (born).

Ukraine and its western supporters, guided by the United States, said that the invasion was an allocation of the imperial -style land and promised to defeat Russian forces.

Reuters reported in November that Putin is open to discuss a peace agreement in Ukraine with Trump, but excludes the possibility of making important territorial concessions and insists on the fact that Kiev abandoned his ambitions to join NATO.
