The buses, which transported 48 people, collided with a truck in Tabasco
A car accident involving a bus in the south of Mexico, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, killed 41 people, said the government of the Mexican state in a note, adding that the rescue work is still in progress.
The bus, which transported 48 people, collided with a truck, causing the death of 38 passengers and two of the drivers, said the local authorities, adding that the truck driver also died.
Reuters’ images show the bus completely burned after being swallowed by the flames after the collision, leaving only the skeletal remains of the metal structure.
“So far, only 18 skulls have been confirmed, but much more are missing,” said sources of security of Tabasco on condition of anonymity, adding that the recovery work continues.
The bus operator, Acosta Tours, said that “he deeply complains what happened”, in a Facebook post, adding that he is working with the authorities to find out what happened and if the bus was traveling inside speed limit.
