Denzel Washington was snubbed by Oscar 2025although its performance in Gladiator 2 has been praised by critics. He competed Golden Globe best supporting actor, but lost to Kieran Culkinwhich starred The Real Pain.
THE Academy chose to honor Kieran Culkin, Edward Norton, Guy Pearce, Jeremy Strong and YURA BORISOV in the same category. The ceremony takes place on March 2 in Los Angeles.
Washington received the Oscar best actor for the role in Training day (2001) and best supporting actor for Time of Glory (1989). Your character Macrinus, in Gladiator 2However, it was left out of the award.
In an interview with The New York Times (via NME), the actor talked about the theme: “Are you playing with me? I’m happy for everyone who was nominated and what I am doing.”
Look, I’ve been there for a long time. I have – I don’t mean that there are other priorities, but there is a reality at this age. The beginning of wisdom is understanding. I’m getting wiser, working to speak less and learn to understand more – and that’s exciting.
Washington also pointed out that he is happy with his role in Broadway in Othello: “I was sitting there smiling and thinking, ‘Look at you. On the day I didn’t get an indication Oscaryou are working on Othello on Broadway ‘”
