Pope Francis is improving and works in the hospital, says the Vatican

Pope Francis is presenting an improvement and is doing some work, said the Vatican on Friday, when the 88 -year -old Pope spends his eighth day in the hospital fighting against pneumonia.

Francisco is treated at the Gemelli hospital in Rome, where he was admitted on February 14, after dealing with difficulty breathing for several days.

Double pneumonia is a serious infection that can light and cause scars in both lungs, making breathing difficult.

The spokesman for the Vatican Matteo Bruni said in a short update on Friday that Francisco slept well at night and had breakfast.

An authority of the Vatican, who did not want to be identified because he was not allowed to talk about the Pope’s conditions, said Francis is breathing alone without the help of a car.

The pope manages to move in the hospital room, he was witnessing some calls and continued to do some bureaucratic work, said the authority.

His comments were made after the Vatican said on Thursday evening that the Pope’s conditions “improved slightly” for the second consecutive day.

The Vatican also reported that the hemodynamic parameters of Francisco, a measure of the functioning of its body circulatory system, were “stable”.

Francisco, who has been a Pope since 2013, has suffered from health problems in the last two years. It is particularly subject to lung infections because, as a young adult, it has developed pleurisy and has been part of a removed lung.

Thursday a retired Catholic cardinal suggested that Francis’s fragile health could lead the Pope to resign as the leader of the Catholic Church of 1.4 billion, as his deceased predecessor, Pope Benedict 16, did.

But Francis has firmly discarded the possibility of renouncing in the past, defining it by 2024 only a “distant hypothesis”.
