The death of Kit Scott, who was killed by his own brother in the school halls during a horrific shooting episode, is without a doubt one of the most astonishing trials of The Brothers Scott.
This completely unexpected event, which happened at the end of Season 3, shocked fans deeply, but also Craig Schaefer, the character translator, when he discovered the terrible fate that befell him.
As he recently told a podcast Drama Queens, His suspicions about Kit’s disappearance arose long before. However, the series’ creator Mark Schwan took it upon himself to convince him:
“As I was left for the last 6 episodes of last season, I asked if he was going to be without me”– says Craig Schaefer. “He came with me to dinner and said, ‘No, no, no. As long as the show continues, you will be in it. “You play the character I wrote after my brother.”
But as everyone knows, this beautiful promise has not been fulfilled. Indeed, before filming Season 3, Shaffer called Schwan to tell him what would happen to Kate:
“He told me he had a very interesting story for me, that it would be the best of all seasons.”Explains Shafer. “I told him I was wondering when he was going to call me (…) And I did not know what was going on. (…)
He told me he had good and bad news. He told me everything, and then he said, “And then Paul shoots you.” I said, “Okay, so I’m dead, does that mean I’m not going to get paid anymore?” He answered yes. (…) “It’s not just bad, it’s the way it’s done.”
Still on the microphone of Bethany Joy Lenz, Sophia Bush and Hillary Burton, the stars of the cult series that became the hosts of the podcast, the comedian also spoke about how his tension with Mark Schwan and the series was born, explaining that his attire created several problems:

We know the production schedule can be insane, but even simple trifles were about control. I arrived in my character costume. I had a few hairs on my face, I wore boots on my pants, as I always did. “she said.
“Gradually, Mark Schwan … I was threatened with dismissal because of my boots. I said I just didn’t want to put on my pants boots. I wear my bandana like the first time I wore it. Three or four weeks and I was told they no longer wanted it.
They wanted to shave my hair. They went so far as to call my agent and say that if this controversy continued, they were going to get rid of me. That’s the thing that destroys the soul. “
