Talking about Joseph Quinn does not stop. The undisputed star of Season 4 of Stranger Things rose to meteoric fame with his portrayal of Eddie Munson, a heavy metal fan and leader of the Hellfire Club, who easily blended in with the band on the Netflix series.
After the release of two episodes of the fourth season of Stranger Things, Joseph Quinn has been meeting the public and visiting conventions, where we also managed to shed a tear after giving an emotional speech to a fan.
Eddie is so beloved by Netflix series audiences that a petition has been launched to bring his character back for the fifth and final season, and several tributes have been paid, sometimes hilariously in a cornfield.
The actor has been busy with interviews and public appearances and recently appeared on his first talk show, Jimmy Fallon’s Show, where he received a triumphant reception. But Joseph Quinn almost never got there, for a very surprising reason.
Eddie’s interpreter actually explained to the host that he had been detained at customs! The British actor was taken into immigration detention upon arrival in the United States the day before his appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show:
“I was taken to what you might call a dungeon. And I was asked to wait there for about twenty minutes and then I was called into this office where someone asked me, ‘What are you doing in the United States, sir?’
Joseph Quinn then explained that he was coming to the United States to appear on Jimmy Fallon’s show. And the exchange could have gone the other way had it not been recognized by one of the agents: “He didn’t believe me. And one of his colleagues looked at me and looked at me and said, ‘Give it up Eddie.’
Then the first agent realized the identity of his interlocutor, who, without clothes and a long wig, was very different from his character. He then didn’t hesitate to ask the actor if he was planning to return for Season 5 of Stranger Things. To which Joseph Quinn replied that he knew absolutely nothing about it.
The exchange ended with the agent warning as he handed back his passport: “You better get back.” The success of the Netflix series led Joseph Quinn to go through this amazing misadventure that ended up being good in the end.
Fans identified with Eddie and voiced the character during several scenes, including his guitar rendition of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” in The Upside Down. This sequence also allowed the actor to feel like a rock star:
“It was a strange time during the pandemic, where no one had seen live music for many years. I was with Gaten (Matarazzo)… it was very fun. I was nervous, but somehow it was like a rock concert. And I felt like a rock star for a night. It was pretty amazing.”
Will Eddie get the chance to play a rock star in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things? Although the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that Eddie will not be there, nothing is impossible in the fantasy series, and fans are already buzzing with theories that will ensure the return of their favorite metal in the Netflix series.
Stranger Things season 4 is available on Netflix.
