Paramount + renews “iCarly” for season 3

Paramount + has officially renewed the revival of “iCarly” for its third season. The announcement was made with posts on the platform’s official social media.

One of the biggest hits on paid children’s channel Nickelodeon, the original version of the series follows a high school student (Miranda Cosgrove) who presented a webcast with her friends. Aired between 2007 and 2012, the series was so successful that it got a spin-off, “Sam & Cat”, which ended after just one vitamin season (of 35 episodes), presumably due to backstage fights between its protagonists Jennette McCurdy (Sam from “iCarly”) and none other than Ariana Grande (the cat from “Bright Victoria”).

The revival takes place about 10 years after the original “iCarly” ending and shows what happened to Carly and her friends, including Spencer (Jerry Trainor) and Freddie (Nathan Kress), as they entered adulthood.

Sam (McCurdy) and Gibby (Noah Munck) have been excluded and their absences are filled with new characters, played by Laci Mosley (from “Florida Girls”) and Jaidyn Triplett (“The Affair”). The former is Carly’s roommate and her new best friend, while the latter plays Freddie’s sarcastic stepdaughter.

The new episodes are written and produced by Jay Kogen (a veteran of “The Simpsons”) and Ali Schouten (“Merry Christmas and such”).
