Daniel Radcliffe on the set of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”.
Did Daniel Radcliffe have vocal flatulence while filming? In any way! In fact, he was given a joke that (kindly) mocked him on the set of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
A scene is to be filmed where many Hogwarts children are lying in the common room as Dementors threaten to enter the school. The sequence begins as Professors Snape and Dumbledore are at the back of the room and gradually approach Harry, who pretends to be asleep and listens to them.
Except on set, nothing goes as planned. Indeed, part of the team decided to play a prank on Daniel Radcliffe, the interpreter of the little master. At the initiative of Michael Gambon (then a brand new Dumbledore after the death of Richard Harris in the Chamber of Secrets), a dirty pillow is placed under the young actor’s bed without his knowledge.
You can see the result below:
The child actors lie, all very good, while Gambon and Alan Rickman, Snape’s interpreter, walk around the room and play their lines. When the first flatulence sounds, everyone tries to keep seriousness, but on the second or third it doesn’t happen anymore and the scene stops laughing!
And so the first “dark” part of the Harry Potter saga was shot in an atmosphere of pure relaxation. At the time of its release, Azkaban’s Tusage had grossed over $780 million, which was $85 million less than its predecessor, Chamber of Secrets. Goblet of Fire raises the bar by collecting 886 million and the following opuses will never fall below the 900 million mark.
