Brazilian actor debuts in the Drug Thieves series, from Apple TV+, and comments on the challenges of acting in another language
The actor Wagner Moura Returns to international screens with the series Drug thieveswhich debuts in Apple TV+ on March 14. In the plot, he plays a Brazilian character, but who speaks exclusively in English. In a news conference with Brazilian journalists, Moura shared her experience acting in another language and highlighted the main difference between acting in English and Portuguese (via CNN).
“When I speak ‘father’ or ‘mother’, these words are loaded with a memory. If I speak ‘Father’ [pai em inglês]she doesn’t have a memory. I did not learn to speak English child. I learned to speak older English, so it doesn’t come with a memory. It is not even phonetics, but it is to fill the words of meaning, of affection, ”said Moura.

The series is based on the book Dope thieffrom Dennis Tafoyaand accompanies two friends who pretend to be trafficking agents to steal drugs.
