Howie Kleinberg made his way into reality TV in 2007 as a contestant in the third season of The best cook, and left a lasting impression. Unfortunately the chef is dead. He was 46 at the time of his death.
Kleinberg died over the weekend, his mother said in a statement to the The new herald. He is survived by his stepfather, his sister, two nephews and a nephew as well as his mother. His father died of a heart attack at the age of 34, when Kleinberg was 6.
Susan Kleinberg confirmed her son’s death to Miami media on July 25 and shared that the number of condolences she received told her of the impact it left on those around him. She said:
I find out how many lives it has touched. He was married to his passion in his life, which was his cooking.
Howie Kleinberg appeared in the third season of Bravo’s successful cooking reality show, titled Best Cook: Miami in 2007. He was ranked seventh out of 15 competing chefs for the top prize. While he didn’t win, he was an unforgettable part of Season 3, mostly due to an exchange with the late Anthony Bourdain, in which he responded to some of Bourdain’s criticisms of him by citing Bourdain’s book.
He was an unknown chef when the director of the South Beach Food Festival recommended him The best cook, and in the end he was chosen. After his stint on the Bravo show, he owned the Bulldog Barbecue restaurant in North Miami, named after his chef nickname. He found inspiration to become a chef for the first time after being hired in the kitchen of the Miami Intercontinental hotel and was not a fan of the job at first, but he learned to love cooking and it took him far. .
Bravo went to great lengths to honor Howie Kleinberg after his passing as a network manager. The best cook Twitter account posted this message:

The most recent was season 19 in early 2022, following the historic eighteenth season which brought some quarantine changes. Without the success of those first few seasons, the show probably hasn’t been that strong yet.
