American HBO Max will no longer have eight films from the “Harry Potter” franchise in its catalog. But, to the delight of Brazilian fans, this decision does not apply to Latin America.
The information that the decision does not apply to Latin America was confirmed by contacting HBO Max Public Relations in Brazil.
However, according to information from Variety, HBO Max in the United States will lose the eight films in the “Harry Potter” franchise. Starting July 1, American fans can watch the entire Harry Potter saga on NBCUniversal’s Peacock stream.
Now, starting August 31, the movies will leave HBO Max and can only be seen on Peacock. The “Harry Potter” franchise has alternated between HBO Max and Peacock for the past two years in the United States. When the HBO Max platform opened in May 2021, eight films from the franchise were in the catalog.
However, after just 90 days they left HBO Max and went to Peacock. In September 2021, the films returned to HBO Max, but apparently it was only a 12-month acquisition as the films have already returned to Peacock and will now be leaving HBO Max again.
Despite losing the eight films in the original franchise, HBO Max will continue to have the three films in the “Fantastic Beasts” spin-off and the franchise’s 20th anniversary special, “Return to Hogwarts”.
In Brazil, the eight films will continue in the HBO Max catalog, as will the other aforementioned productions.
