The Ukrainian leader participated in the meetings in 2022, 2023 and 2024
Canada invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to participate in the next G7 Leader Summit, which will take place from 15 to 17 June in Kananaskis.
The invitation was confirmed to the AFP agency by a member of the Canadian government, now led by the prime minister on the left Mark Carneary, who replaced Justin Trudeau, both from the liberal party, last week.
Zelensky has already participated in the G7 G7 by 2022, Germany, 2023, Japan and 2024, in Italy, and will have a new opportunity to face the President of the United States, Donald Trump, with whom he made a chat in front of the television cameras on February 28.
Before G8, the group was renamed G7 in 2014, after having expelled Russia due to the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, and is composed of Germany, Canada, USA, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom, as well as the European Union.
The Russian-Ukian war, by the way, was the subject of a meeting between the French and French president, Emmanuel Macron, Monday (17) in Paris. During the meeting, the two leaders accused “clear commitments” of the Kremlin with a “lasting peace” and the “security of all of Europe”. .
