Thirty-five, after the blood is lowered (or almost) in Embrasse-Moi Vampire, Nicolas Cage is still in the shoes of fantastic creatures … but not just anything! In Renfield, the actor carries the legendary cape of Dracula, a character born under the Bremi pen 127 years ago. The character he has always dreamed of playing the screen.
In this reading of the myth, Nicolas Cage depicts a huge version and, say, the character’s disgust. The most narcissistic wizard that ever existed, he has fun with his assistant, young Renfield.
The latter forces his master to prey and secure all his demands, even the most humiliating. But for centuries after servitude, it is finally ready to free himself from the shadow of the prince of darkness. Provided that he is able to end up with mutual help that unites them.
“It was crazy and exaggerated”
Cage finds Nicholas Hulty on this day, who he met in the shooting of a weather man. And despite the relevant characters of the Bible, the friendship between these two men is quite visible on the screen. Directed by Chris McKay (Lego Batman), the film will be presented as “crazy and exaggerated.”
We can truly use this term to talk about filming itself. In Stoker’s novel, RM Renfield is a neat character in a mental hospital who dreams of a dracula transform. Subject to his personality, it has a difference in the absorption of large numbers of animals. Especially insects.
In the film, this aspect was kept in the script. If many fake insects were created, the chief of the decorator and his team were still in order to order food versions, found on the Internet: gelatin earth worms, real dried locusts with different tastes (ranch and barbecue or vinegar and salt sauces), beetles, apple insects and pieces. The cast was consumed about a hundred Kalia during the film filming. Hat!
Renfield leaves Netflix on March 29.
